LAYMAN’S THOUGHTS POETRY

How Much for Africa?

I was listening to my boombox,
I heard a rapper say, he heard
The yellow men purchased our land
That we are shackled by debts
Debts larger than hay fields
And so I need some inspiration
I need some oversight
I need some validation
Clarity
To this unpopular insanity
I thought slavery never existed
And still in the 21st century,
Still
Man is subject to Man
Deny me my own prerogative
Not me, never again.
